The Rose-Hulman Recreation Department is pleased to offer a mini-marathon training program to the Rose-Hulman campus community (faculty, staff, students, spouses, children and alumni. This mini-marathon training program will provide novice, intermediate and advanced runners and walkers an opportunity to train with other runners and walkers who share the same goal, to complete a 13.1 mile mini-marathon. The 15-week mini-marathon training program will provide a weekly training regimen along with group workouts (if able to attend, group will meet on Mondays at 6pm in the SRC lobby). The targeted mini-marathon for the training program is the Indianapolis 500 Festival Mini Marathon on Saturday, May 3rd. The program will also provide weekly training tips as well as informational lessons concerning nutrition, common injuries, running shoes, running gear, and much more!!!
If you are interested in testing your endurance, want to shed a few pounds, or simply love to run or walk, please e-mail Jake Isaacson at Isaacson@rose-hulman.edu to be added to the training distribution list.
The 15-week training program began January 20th and will run up to the day of the event. Below are the documents that outline the training programs. The first excel document attached is a beginner workout schedule that will be helpful to those who do not currently walk or jog regularly and are interested in participating in the program. The next attachment is the 15-week training program and the last document is a 5k PR plan for those participating in the Indy 5k. Take a look at the different training programs and pick the one that best fits your fitness level and goal for the race.
